A Russian cross-country skier, Natalia Matveyeva (far right), ran afoul of the doping authorities. She is a cross country skier of some consequence. To the Canadian Press:
The 22-year-old Matveyeva reportedly tested positive for EPO during a World Cup meet in January in Whistler, B.C.
Russian sprint team coach Tatyana Revina, who called the result a mistake, said a Russian expert who works with the team would be in Montreal when the "B sample" result is revealed Monday.
"We do not use doping technology in our work and there have been no doping ingredients in the preparations we use," Allsport quoted Revina as saying.
Russian cross-country officials could not be reached for comment.
