The New York Daily News reports New Jersey cops -- a couple dozen -- showed up on the roles of a busted steroids distributor.
More than two dozen Jersey City police officers are under investigation for alleged steroid use - the latest fallout from last year's raid on a Brooklyn pharmacy, sources said.
State investigators raided Lowen's Pharmacy in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, last year as part of a probe begun by Albany County District Attorney David Soares into a multistate scheme to sell steroids and human growth hormone over the Internet. An estimated $8million in steroids and human growth hormone were seized, along with the drugstore's client lists.
The names of 27 New York City police officers were found among those who purchased HGH or some form of steroids. Only a handful have faced internal charges and none faced criminal charges. But the NYPD's Internal Affairs Bureau found names of cops from other agencies and turned those names over, sources said.
From time to time we have carried stories on steroid use among the police. Not exactly a great situation: the armed thin blue line juiced up and aggressive.
