Reports surfacing from Florida implicate reserve Tampa Bay Buc lineman Matt Lehr in the Plano TX bust. A steroids dealer in Plano TX said he dealt the Dallas Cowboys steroids. A report from Tampa.com:
Matt Lehr's name hasn't appeared in the Bucs' starting lineup, but it is among those supplied by a Plano, Texas, trainer to authorities investigating a steroid ring.
The Dallas Morning News reported Lehr, a reserve center and guard, was one of the players who was supplied steroids by David Jacobs.
Jacobs, 35, pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court in Texas to conspiring to possess with intent to distribute anabolic steroids. He admittedhe trafficked more than 40,000 units of the drug as well as several thousand units of human growth hormone from February 2006 to April.
Lehr was suspended last year for steroids, then dropped out of the league. He reappeared in Florida this year as a lineman, and 'reappeared virtually' in a Dallas courtroom. Lehr's attorney answers:
An attorney for former Dallas Cowboys lineman Matt Lehr issued a statement Thursday related to allegations that a Plano-based personal trainer had named him in connection with a federal investigation into an illegal steroids ring. Mr. Lehr was suspended last year for violating the NFL's banned-substances policy while playing for the Atlanta Falcons.
"Matt made a mistake and paid a heavy price for it with a four-game suspension," said Dallas attorney Paul Coggins. "Since then, he has been tested for banned substances on a weekly basis and has passed every test. He will continue to be tested for the rest of his NFL career and will pass every time. He learned from a past mistake and has grown from it."
So, more trouble for the NFL. Appears the steroid dealer from Plano does have names.
how is it that this story is a month old and this is the first I've ever heard of it. NFL - another free pass.
