Raiders safety Jarrod Cooper was suspended for the first four games of the regular season Friday for violating the league's policy on anabolic steroids and related substances.
Cooper is the second Raiders player suspended by the NFL for the first four games of the 2007 season.
Running back Dominic Rhodes got nailed July 3 for violating the league's substance-abuse policy a second time. Cooper has spent the past three seasons with the Raiders after an incident-marred career with the Carolina Panthers. He signed with the Raiders midway through the 2004 season shortly after the Panthers released him, in large part, because of his checkered past. He was charged twice in a three-year span for driving while impaired while with the Panthers. The NFL suspended him for four games and docked him six weeks' salary for violating the league's substance-abuse policy as a result of his second DWI arrest, Sept. 16, 2003.
Cooper played college ball at K-State.
