What are your feelings about the Barry Bonds home run phenomenon, chasing Hank Aaron's record?
Unfortunately, I've developed an indifference with the steroid issue. It is a possibility he did use them. When you do that, it takes away the legitimacy of the game. If he breaks the record, it won't have the value that it should.
But hey, Garvey has a junior high named after him. He could be president:

It is Steve Garvey Junior High in Lindsay, Calif., an hour east of Bakersfield. It was established in 1977, so I have been visiting the school each May for 30 years. I will be there this May for its 30th anniversary. I stay all day and pitch in several special softball games.
What do you expect from a guy who kept the Cubs from the World Series in '84?

I think he’s saying the Hall of Fame is a museum about baseball history, and being banned from coaching or playing baseball shouldn’t mean you are banned from appearing in a museum about baseball history when you own one of baseball’s most historic records
