I see my former Iowa Hawkeye friend Brad Lohaus has made Sports by Brooks, and Deadspin. He is a salesman for an aviation service, which is interesting. He once owned the best pizza bar in town --and best window on scenery in downtown Iowa City-- The Airliner.
Lohaus was recruited by Lute Olson to Iowa basketball. He was buried by George Raveling (I saw Raveling sprint on the court once to lay into Lohaus with a vengeance). Lodawg was resurrected by Tom Davis on that wonderful 1986-7 Hawkeye team that went something like 31-5 (link to classic piece featuring both Brad Lohaus and ex Hawk coach Steve Alford).
In happier times Lohaus built a huge house next to Tom Davis on Finkbine Golf course. (The Nation drives by it every day). Brad was the leading contributor to Hawkeye Sports back then.
Lodawg,er Lohaus is a nice guy with some baggage. He got into a little woman (women) trouble and a little Ebay financial trouble recently. But he is trying to fly right.
Lohaus is a nice guy. He will talk to anyone at anytime. Pull out of the tailspin, Brad. The Nation wishes him well.
No way, Lohaus owned The Airliner? When? Had to be after I left there.
From a humble Nation:
Yeah, look at one the the links where it shows Brad in the 'Liner. He owned it with Randy Larsen. Larsen pulled out, and now owns a couple 'Bobs Your Uncle' restaurants (I had dinner at one last night).
