The USADA banned for life, track coach Remi Korchemny. The ban cites BALCO involvement and promotion of anabolics. Story in SFGate.com
In its announcement, USADA said Korchemny is "no longer eligible for participation in any sport organization that recognizes the World Anti-Doping Code, including the IAAF, USA Track & Field and the U.S. Olympic Committee.'' He is the first coach in any sport to be disciplined by USADA.
The coach thinks he is banned for using the wrong drink:
"I already suffered a lot,'' Korchemny told The Chronicle. "The punishment was very, very soft for me because the judge realized my role was minimal. I call myself a cherry in a cocktail glass -- not the drink, just the cherry.
"The punishment is already over. I don't care. I am 75 years old. Why do I have to contest this and waste my energy? They can do what they want.''
He continues to search as a volunteer track coach.
Any athlete would suffer if they break the rules.
