The Albany Times-Union takes the lead in the steroids (actually more HGH) marathon this week. The link goes to the front page; thus it may not be valid with time. The New York Times runs a piece on the bust, however it appears to be off the AP wire.
Richard Rydze MD, a bio. He is the doctor who put 150,000 of product out of the Orlando Internet pharmacy on his credit card.
Dr. Rydze received his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan and his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at UPMC Presbyterian. He is board-certified in internal medicine.
He serves as medical director for the Little Sisters of the Poor nursing home, the Community College of Allegheny County, and the Pittsburgh office of the FBI. Dr. Rydze is a team physician for the Pittsburgh Steelers and senior aviation medical examiner for the Federal Aviation Administration. Dr. Rydze was a silver medal winner in platform diving in the 1972 Olympics in Munich.
The key issue with the doc is why $150,000 of testosterone and HGH on a credit card? (I am venturing into unchartered waters here, talking about a brother physician, but here goes.)
Unless the Little Sisters of the Poor need alot of anabolic steroids and HGH, then something is amiss. If a doc were in private practice with an Anti-Aging clinic, The Nation could see stockpiling these drugs (even though use in an anti-aging clinic is highly controversial). However. it appears the doc does a few days a week at a student health, and a couple days at a nursing home, and some at Univ Pittsburgh Health. Who in student health is using nandrolone or HGH? Someone is going to look at the records of where those drugs went, and into whom they went.
Dr.Rydze is a fine physician. Sports stars can use crack, heroin, etc. Women receive breast implants, face lifts, etc. But someone using test or hgh that has deficient levels is an outcast. The M.D. that prescribes the test or hgh is a villian. GIVE ME A BREAK!!! Low test levels lead to obesity, diabetes, low sex drive and some cancers. Women receive hormone replacement therapy. Why can't men? The media makes it taboo to mention steroids. We need more knowledgeable doctors like Dr. Rydze who can help the aging male lead a better life.
