The Fog City Journal is reporting the date for track coach Trevor Graham's BALCO trial has been delayed. The judge will convene a hearing on March 31 to set the trial date.
Graham set off the initial stage of BALCO by mailing a used syringe from a rival coach to the USADA.
He coached a stable of elite track athletes including Marion Jones, Tim Montgomery, and Justin Gatlin. So many of his stars have tested positive for steroids and other anabolics, that Graham is essentially barred in European track meets.
SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) - The setting of a trial date for an Olympic track coach who triggered a sports steroid probe was postponed in federal court in San Francisco Friday to give his lawyers time to review documents that may be used as evidence.
U.S. District Judge Susan Illston will set a trial date for Trevor Graham at a hearing on March 30.
Graham, of Raleigh, N.C., set off an investigation centered on the Bay Area Laboratory Co Operative, or BALCO, when he anonymously sent a syringe filled with THG,a previously undetectable steroid,to the U.S.
Six people, including two BALCO executives and a chemist who supplied steroids, have pleaded guilty to various charges. The most recent defendant to plead guilty was criminal defense attorneyTroy Ellerman, who admitted Thursday to four counts related to the leaking of secret grand jury testimony by Giants slugger Barry Bonds and three other athletes.
