Guilt by association? The Austrian press implicated top Bulgarian female sprinter Ivet Lalova in doping because of links with manager Stefan Matschiner. Matschiner supplied pro cyclist Bernhard Kohl with juice.
Lalova, Bulgaria's best athlete for 2008, explained that she stopped working with Matschiner at the end of last year when the first reports of his clients failing doping tests surfaced.
"My relationship with Stefan Matschiner is purely businesslike," Ivet said after Austrian media reported the two were seen together at a local restaurant.
Apparently this is similar to the guilt by association when Lance Armstrong was linked to Italian uber-dope doctor Michele Ferrari.
Lalova has quite a following with fansites. You can also find plenty of online pics of the photogenic athlete with a Google search.
This should improve relations between Austria and Bulgaria.
