Big Brown: Steroid burnout at the Belmont Stakes

Reports came out this week that Big Brown will not be getting his monthly anabolic steroid shot.  Like sprinter Ben Johnson he too Winny to enhance his performance.  Brown's trainer Ric Dutrow did not give Brown the roids in May.

569512binIn this race, the big horse hung in 3rd place until the end when he burned out badly.

You tell us, did he burn out because of steroid withdrawal?  As everyone knows natural androgens shut down when artificial roids are stopped.  It may take some time for the testicles to recover natural testosterone production.

We are not vets, however it seems stupid to stop artificial anabolic steroids before a big race.  No testosterone support!  One more reason not to mess with the animal's endocrine system.

Interesting!
