Two Colorado Rocky players admit to PEDs

Matt Herges and Glenallen Hill admitted to PED use today.  The Mitchell Report named both players, when it was published last December.

Hergeshghrtlblog             DENVER,  Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Two members of the Colorado Rockies Wednesday admitted using performance-enhancing substances as described in Major League Baseball's Mitchell Report.

At the time they used the substances, neither pitcher Matt Herges nor first base coach Glenallen Hill was with the Rockies.

Herges has spent nine big league seasons with the LA Dodgers, Montreal, San Diego, San Francisco, Arizona, Florida and Colorado. Hill said he used performance-enhancers late in his playing career which spanned seven teams -- Toronto, Cleveland, the Chicago Cubs, San Francisco, Seattle, the New York Yankees and Anaheim Angels -- from 1989-2001.

"Several years ago I made a poor decision rather than trusting in the abilities the Lord has blessed me with," Herges said in a statement. "I have no excuse for my actions. Words cannot describe how remorseful I am."

The Mitchell report centered on steroid use among major league players. The latest admissions came as pitching great Roger Clemens told a congressional committee at a hearing on Capitol Hill that he had "never taken steroids or (human growth hormone)."
