Bonds case reassigned to original BALCO judge

The federal courts reassigned Barry Bonds' perjury and obstruction trial  to the original  BALCO judge.  San Jose Mercury News:

Rudinjudgeillston In a brief order filed today, the Bonds case was shifted to U.S. District Judge Susan Illston, who handled the case against four defendants indicted on steroids distribution charges in connection with Balco Laboratories, including former Balco president Victor Conte... She has presided over the Balco case with a firm hand, sentencing Conte to four months in prison and four months probation in 2005 after he pleaded guilty. At the time, Illston lamented the fact that the federal sentencing guidelines in place at the time forced her to punish Conte less than "people who are convicted of far less serious things than you have done.
