Cedar Rapids Regis High School scores again

Is there a high school with more famous alumni than Cedar Rapids Iowa's Regis High School? That would be ex-high school; Regis was merged with La Salle High School a few years ago to form Cedar Rapids Xavier.  However, parochial school alumni from Regis must be proud -- mostly.

Kurt Warner, Super Bowl 34 MVP graduated from Regis, as did 2007 Master's champ Zach Johnson (and here).

Now, unconfirmed word is that A-Rod's girlfriend -- Joslyn Noel Morse, an entertainer from Los Vegas -- also graduated from Regis High School in the 90s.

“I was absolutely shocked, because it totally came flooding back that this is a girl I went to high school with,” said Daniel Lundby, a New Yorker who was a grade ahead of Joslyn Noel Morse - a “popular party girl” - at Regis HS in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in the 1990s.

Born in 1971 (in Burlington IA) Warner ranks as the senior member of this trio.  Johnson, born 1976, and Ms. Morse, born 1977 (if she is 30), were under-studies of Warner.  Perhaps Johnson and Morse were classmates?  After all, Johnson played on the 'NGA Hooters Tour'.

The news has hit home in Cedar Rapids. Post editors and writers called The Gazette seeking information about Joslyn Morse. The Gazette was able to confirm that the woman in the photo is Morse, a 1995 Cedar Rapids Regis graduate whose parents live in Palo.

Zach Johnson graduated from Drake in 1998, which means he would have graduated Regis in 1994.  In 1992 Johnson and Morse would be celebrating Regis' state golf championship.

I think I went to a High School game as a spectator when Regis played at Marion Indians. Kurt Warner was QB for Regis and Carey Bender who later tried out for the Buffalo Bills played for Marion as running back. I think the final score was 9-7 with Regis winning but might be wrong about the score. The thing about Iowa sports is that there are no pro teams and all the emphasis is put on High School and College sports. I enjoy High School sports more than any other. The students and athletes merge for a school unity and the environment is all about hard work, "fun" and school representation. No money, no agents, no ads. We walk away from the game and go home to our families and friends. Only fun, school spirit and focus. High school athletics wins hands down. And it's all about the student body. Go-Fight-Win!
